The short answer

Private label deodorant runs from 25 stock sticks to 20,000 custom pieces, and the line that splits the market is aluminum. Read on 10 US makers' own sites in October 2026, The Fancy Factory sells a stock stick from 25 units per scent, Island Deodorant pours 300 unit runs at $5.99 down to $3.60 a stick, GAR Labs starts custom work at 5,000 pieces with no development fee, and Twincraft's minimum is 1,700 kg of bulk, about 20,000 sticks. Only three of the ten say they make antiperspirant, because a product that reduces sweat is an OTC drug in the US and needs a drug-registered plant.

Why Suppliers

You want a deodorant under your own brand: an aluminum free stick with a clean ingredient list, maybe a scent range, maybe a clinical strength antiperspirant later. You search for private label deodorant manufacturers and get offshore factories ranking themselves first in "top 10" lists, a few directory pages, and US makers whose pages end with "contact us for MOQs." What you need before you spend anything is different: whose minimum you can fund, what one stick costs at that minimum, and whether the maker is even allowed to make the product you have in mind.

We read the private label and contract deodorant pages of US makers on their own websites in October 2026 and kept only what each one put in writing: formats, whether they make antiperspirant, the minimum and the unit it is counted in, any published price or fee, and the lead time. We checked the rules against FDA's own pages and the Code of Federal Regulations. Where a maker publishes nothing, we say so, because that silence is the first question for your brief. The AI sourcing agent takes the brief (format, deodorant or antiperspirant, fill size, scents, first quantity, launch date) and sends it to the makers that fit, then lines up their answers in one table.

Deodorant or antiperspirant

A stick that only fights odor is a cosmetic. One that reduces sweat is an OTC drug, and most makers will not make it. Say which you need and the shortlist holds only makers that state they can.

Minimums in one unit

One maker counts pieces, another counts kilograms of bulk, a third counts gallons. Every minimum on your shortlist is converted against the same stick size so you can see who takes your first run.

Stock or custom formula

Launch on a maker's stock formula with your label, or develop your own. The shortlist separates the two routes, because they differ by a factor of ten or more in units and cash.

Format filters the list

Hot pour sticks, roll ons, creams, pump sprays and aerosols run on different equipment. State the format and the agent drops makers who do not fill it.

Price and timeline together

Published per stick prices, sample and scent fees, deposits and lead times sit in the same table, so the real cost and launch date are visible before you sign.

Flat price, no commission

One predictable monthly fee in USD. We take no percentage of your order, so nothing pushes you toward a bigger run or a particular maker.

How it works

Describe, match, decide.

1

Describe what you need

Type your need in plain English. The agent extracts the structured spec, from quantity and material to target price and destination.

2

AI finds & vets

It matches qualified suppliers, cross-checks registry and customs data, surfaces certifications, and flags risk, then ranks the fits.

3

Compare & decide

Review quotes, MOQs, and lead-times side by side, then run RFQ outreach and POs in one place. You stay in control.

Buyer's guide

What to know before you commit.

The aluminum line decides who can make it

FDA lists deodorants among its examples of cosmetics, and lists "deodorants that are also antiperspirants" as products that are both a cosmetic and a drug. The difference is one claim. A product that reduces the production of sweat is an antiperspirant under 21 CFR part 350, now deemed final as OTC Monograph M019 under the CARES Act of March 27, 2020. That makes it a drug, and it has to be made in an FDA-registered drug establishment, listed, and labeled like one.

The monograph is narrow. The permitted actives are aluminum chlorohydrate and its related complexes at up to 25 percent, aluminum zirconium compounds such as tetrachlorohydrex gly at up to 20 percent (not in aerosols), and aluminum chloride at up to 15 percent in a water solution (also not in aerosols). The label has to identify the product as an antiperspirant, say it "reduces underarm wetness," and carry the warnings "Do not use on broken skin," "Stop use if rash or irritation occurs," and "Ask a doctor before use if you have kidney disease." A claim of 24 hour protection rests on a 20 percent sweat reduction in testing, and "extra effective" on 30 percent.

That is why the shortlist for antiperspirant is short. Of the ten US makers we read, three say plainly that they make it: Twincraft in Vermont is "registered with the FDA to manufacture OTC products … including OTC skincare, SPF, and antiperspirants," FP Labs (Federal Package) in Chanhassen, Minnesota says "our antiperspirants are safe and effective," and HWL Manufacturing in Phoenix makes "FDA OTC monograph-compliant antiperspirants" with aluminum chlorohydrate for regular and sensitive formulas and aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex gly for clinical strength. GAR Labs in Riverside, California, by contrast, writes that it chooses "not to manufacture antiperspirant deodorants due to the necessary chemicals … as well as the additional federal regulations involved." If you have read our guide to private label sunscreen manufacturers, this is the same gate: an OTC drug, a drug-registered plant, and an annual FDA facility fee under OMUFA that a cosmetic-only lab never pays. For fiscal 2026 that fee was $19,188 for a plant making its own monograph drugs and $12,792 for a contract manufacturing organization, and it is part of why drug-capable makers quote higher minimums.

The minimum is a batch weight, not a piece count

Read the fine print and most deodorant minimums turn out to be a quantity of bulk, poured into however many sticks it fills. Twincraft says it outright: its guideline for deodorants and hot pour solids is "1,700 kgs of bulk," which "for a typical oval deodorant stick at 2.65oz of product, … equates to 20,000 pieces." GAR Labs runs a piece minimum of 5,000 per product for filled sticks, and a separate bulk minimum of 110 gallons per product if you only want the formula.

Island Deodorant in Florida shows what that means for a small brand. Full size production runs begin at 300 units, but the minimum rises as the stick shrinks: 470 units for a 1.7 to 2.2 oz tube and 900 units for a 0.8 to 1.2 oz travel size. The batch stays the same, so a smaller stick means more pieces you have to buy and sell.

The practical rule for your brief: fix the fill size before you ask anyone for a minimum. A minimum quoted without a stick size cannot be compared with one quoted in kilograms or gallons, and a travel size SKU added late can double the count you have to fund.

Four tiers, from 25 sticks to 20,000

The published terms fall into four clear tiers, and choosing the tier is the real first decision.

Stock sticks you label. The Fancy Factory in Baltimore sells an aluminum free stock deodorant for private label at a minimum of 25 per variant, priced at about $6.29 to $6.59 for a packaged 2.65 oz stick on its store. Bulk Apothecary lists a 2.75 oz ready to private label natural deodorant at $7.85 for one unit and $6.50 each by the case of 12. This is a way to test a brand, not a product: the formula is theirs and so is the scent range.

Small batch runs. Island Deodorant pours its own formula into your containers from 300 units per scent at $5.99 a stick, falling to $3.60 at 2,000 units or more, and will pour your formula from $4.99 down to $1.62. It adds a $65 fee per scent per batch, $150 an hour for samples (usually one hour per scent), and $0.30 per label, and it takes a 50% non-refundable deposit.

Custom runs at a contract lab. GAR Labs starts at 5,000 pieces per product and says "we don't charge for any formulation or development work; we only charge for the finished product." Bradford Labs, with plants in Rhode Island, Illinois and California, sets aerosol deodorant at 15,000 units and says hot pour minimums vary by size.

Large custom and antiperspirant. Twincraft's 1,700 kg guideline, about 20,000 sticks, sits here, alongside FP Labs, which says it makes more than 30 million deodorant sticks a year and does not publish a minimum. HWL Manufacturing makes antiperspirant and also does not publish one ("MOQs vary").

A first-time brand usually belongs in the first or second tier until it has sell-through data. If you are comparing small-batch options across categories, our list of low MOQ manufacturers uses the same published-terms approach.

What a 300 stick first run costs, worked out

Only one maker publishes enough to price a first run end to end, so here is a worked model on Island Deodorant's published terms. The assumptions are ours: one scent, full size sticks, Island's own formula, containers you supply, and one hour of sampling.

300 sticks at $5.99 is $1,797. Add the $65 scent fee, $150 for the sample hour, and 300 labels at $0.30 for $90, and the run comes to about $2,102 before containers, shipping and your own label printing. Half of the order is due up front as a non-refundable deposit. At 2,000 units the same stick falls to $3.60, or $7,200 for the run, which is the jump from testing a brand to stocking one.

A second scent is a second 300 unit batch with its own $65 fee, because Island says each scent requires its own run. That is the cost most first briefs forget: three scents at the starter tier is 900 sticks, not 300. Confirm every figure in writing before you order; published prices change.

Format decides the line

Almost every US maker we read pours sticks by the hot pour method, so a solid stick is the easy brief. Other formats narrow the list fast. HWL Manufacturing lists sticks, roll ons, sprays and creams, including aerosol and pump spray. Bradford Labs makes aerosol deodorant sprays and hot pour sticks. FP Labs makes sticks from 0.05 oz to 3.0 oz. Vermont Soap in Middlebury says it made the first organic push-up tube deodorants, certified organic by Vermont Organic Farmers.

We did not find a US maker offering private label crystal (mineral salt) deodorant on its own site, and the private label deodorant listing on one large US platform led to a supplier in Sweden. If your concept is a crystal or a cream in a jar, put the format first in the brief and expect a shorter list.

Natural and aluminum free, and the claims that cross the line

Aluminum free does not need any drug paperwork, and the natural sticks we read use different ways to fight odor. Island Deodorant and GAR Labs use baking soda; GAR lists coconut oil, baking soda, shea butter, cornstarch and beeswax. The Fancy Factory uses magnesium hydroxide and no baking soda, which matters for customers whose skin reacts to soda. The Goodkind Co. features an extra strength aluminum free stock idea built on Upsalite and zinc ricinoleate. For organic, Twincraft holds NSF/ANSI 305 and USDA Organic certification, and Vermont Soap is certified by Vermont Organic Farmers.

The trap is the copy on your own label. A natural deodorant that promises to keep you dry, stop sweat or reduce wetness is making the antiperspirant claim, and that claim belongs to the drug monograph. Keep the claims on odor and ingredients unless your maker is drug-registered and the formula is a monograph antiperspirant.

Lead times, and when the clock starts

The published lead times range from two weeks to most of a season, and each maker starts the clock at a different point. The Fancy Factory allows 2 to 4 weeks for an initial stock order and 7 to 14 days for repeats. Island Deodorant gives a typical lead time of 4 weeks, but slots orders as deposits arrive and by when your containers land. GAR Labs puts a custom project at 10 to 12 weeks from concept to completion. HWL Manufacturing quotes two to four weeks from brief to an approved formula, then about 90 days of production from formula and packaging approval. Bradford Labs says production generally takes 8 to 16 weeks from the purchase order. Twincraft says its timing depends on its vendors' lead times and its own production schedule.

So ask two questions in every brief: what starts the clock (deposit, PO, approved formula, or packaging on site), and how long a repeat order takes once the formula exists.

MoCRA for the cosmetic side

A deodorant that is only a cosmetic still has federal paperwork. Under the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022, the facility that makes it registers with FDA and renews every two years, and the brand that sells it (the responsible person) lists each product and updates the listing every year, through FDA's Cosmetics Direct portal. FDA began enforcing those requirements on July 1, 2024. There is an exemption for small businesses whose average gross annual US cosmetic sales over the previous three years are under $1,000,000, adjusted for inflation; Island Deodorant states that it qualifies for that exemption from facility registration.

We do not file registrations or listings, and this is not legal advice. Ask each maker which filings it makes, which ones are yours, and how it documents stability; Island, for example, lists product stability testing and GMP or ISO certification among the things it does not provide.

Read on each maker's own website in October 2026. "Not stated" means the maker does not publish it. Minimums, prices and timelines change, so confirm every figure in writing before you order. Kilogram and gallon minimums are not comparable with piece minimums until you fix a stick size.

People also ask

The questions buyers actually search.

How much does it cost to make private label deodorant?

At the small end, about $2,100 for a first run of 300 sticks. That is our worked model on Island Deodorant's published terms: $5.99 a stick, a $65 scent fee, a $150 sample hour and $0.30 labels, before containers and shipping. The per stick price falls to $3.60 at 2,000 units, and GAR Labs charges no development fee on custom runs from 5,000 pieces.

What is the minimum order for private label deodorant?

It ranges from 25 sticks to about 20,000. The Fancy Factory sells a stock stick from 25 per variant, Island Deodorant runs 300 units per scent, GAR Labs starts custom at 5,000 pieces, Bradford Labs sets aerosols at 15,000 units, and Twincraft's guideline is 1,700 kg of bulk, which it says is about 20,000 sticks at 2.65 oz.

Is deodorant regulated by the FDA?

Yes, but as a cosmetic unless it claims to reduce sweat. FDA lists deodorants as cosmetics, and under MoCRA the making facility registers and the brand lists each product. An antiperspirant is an OTC drug under 21 CFR part 350 (Monograph M019) and has to come from an FDA-registered drug establishment with drug labeling.

Do you need FDA approval to sell antiperspirant?

Not if it follows the antiperspirant monograph. A product that uses a permitted active, such as aluminum chlorohydrate up to 25 percent, and carries the required labeling can be sold without premarket approval. It still has to be made in an FDA-registered drug establishment and listed as a drug, which is why only three of the ten makers we read offer it.

Is aluminum free deodorant considered a drug?

No, as long as the label only talks about odor. Aluminum free deodorant is a cosmetic. It becomes a drug claim if the label says it keeps you dry, stops sweat or reduces underarm wetness, because reducing perspiration is what defines an antiperspirant under the monograph.

Can I start a deodorant brand with a small order?

Yes, on a stock formula. The Fancy Factory sells an aluminum free stick with your label from 25 units per variant, and Island Deodorant pours its formula or yours into your containers from 300 units per scent. A custom formula at a contract lab usually starts at 5,000 pieces, so most brands test on a stock line first.

How long does it take to make private label deodorant?

Two weeks to about four months, depending on the route. A stock order at The Fancy Factory takes 2 to 4 weeks, Island Deodorant typically 4 weeks, GAR Labs 10 to 12 weeks from concept to completion, and HWL Manufacturing about 90 days of production after formula and packaging approval. Ask what starts the clock.

Who makes private label antiperspirant in the USA?

Of the US makers we read, Twincraft Skincare in Vermont, FP Labs (Federal Package) in Minnesota and HWL Manufacturing in Phoenix state that they make antiperspirant. HWL lists aluminum chlorohydrate for regular and sensitive formulas and aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex gly for clinical strength. GAR Labs states that it does not make antiperspirant.

Yes. Say you need an antiperspirant and the shortlist favors makers that state FDA drug establishment registration and OTC capability, with that evidence shown next to identity verification and registry cross-checks. It reduces the risk of briefing a cosmetic-only lab. It does not replace your own check of the registration before you order.
