The short answer
Vietnam clothing manufacturers publish more of their terms than factories almost anywhere else: of 13 plants we read on their own sites in October 2026, 9 state a minimum. They range from 100 pieces per style (Vietnam Clothing Manufacturing in Ho Chi Minh City) and 150 per style (Yoke in Da Nang) to 500 to 1,000 per style and color (iGreen Tex) and 3,000 per design, 1,000 per color (Thygesen). Lead times run from 15 to 25 days after sample approval and deposit to 90 to 120 days. A cotton t-shirt from Vietnam currently pays 16.5% US duty plus a 12.5% Section 301 tariff in force since July 24, 2026.
Why Suppliers
You want your clothing made somewhere other than China, at a quality your customers will not return, and at a minimum you can fund. Vietnam is the obvious next stop. Search for Vietnam clothing manufacturers, though, and a good part of page one is written by people who are not Vietnamese factories: sourcing agents ranking themselves first, a US company with an unnamed "Vietnam facility", and several listicles published by apparel companies whose own address pages are in Guangzhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen.
This page is built from what Vietnamese plants put in writing, read on 13 manufacturers' own sites in October 2026, plus the US duty rules from USTR, the White House orders, CBP and the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule. Where a factory is silent on a minimum, a sample fee or a lead time, we say so, because that is what to ask first.
Suppliers does the shortlisting from a plain English brief: garment type, fabric and weight, quantity per style and per color, target landed cost and where the fabric may come from. The agent finds candidate plants in Vietnam and alongside them in Mexico, the US or elsewhere, verifies identity, cross-checks registry and customs data, surfaces certifications and flags risk with the evidence shown, then sends your request for quote and lines the answers up side by side.
Real Vietnamese plants
The shortlist is built from where a company actually sews, with a ward, district and province on record, so a Guangdong factory with a Vietnam keyword page does not end up on it.
Minimums per style and per color
Vietnam factories quote per design, per style, per color, or per style and color together. The comparison converts each to pieces per style at your color count, so 3,000 per design and 1,000 per color read the same way.
Lead time with its clock start
15 days after sample approval and 120 days after deposit are both honest numbers. Each quote records what its clock counts from.
Fabric origin in the brief
Where the yarn and fabric come from decides your forced labor documentation. Tell the agent, and each factory states its fabric source with its quote.
Evidence on every plant
Identity checks, registry and customs cross-checks, stated certifications such as WRAP, SA8000 or OEKO-TEX, and risk flags, with the source. Vetting reduces risk; it does not replace a pre-production sample or a factory visit.
Vietnam next to the alternatives
The same brief can return Mexican and US plants, so you compare landed cost against nearshoring instead of guessing.

Where clothing is made in Vietnam
Vietnam's apparel exporters cluster in two regions. Around Ho Chi Minh City and the former Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces sit most of the small and mid-size cut and sew plants a growing brand will deal with. Thai Son S.P, a family owned circular knit specialist, runs sewing factories in Long Phuoc and in an industrial park in the former Binh Thuan province, knits and dyes its own fabric, and states 250,000 to 300,000 t-shirt equivalents a month. iGreen Tex in Ho Chi Minh City makes tees, polos, hoodies and joggers on four lines. HEM Apparel makes premium streetwear knits. Saitex in Bien Hoa makes denim in a B Corp certified plant with its own mill, and Kowide, a Taiwanese owned plant in Dong Nai, makes down jackets and bags.
The north is home to larger programs. Thygesen Textile Vietnam, Danish owned, sews in Hung Yen and Phu Tho and states up to 800,000 garments a month for activewear, underwear and workwear. TCE Vina Denim in Ninh Binh runs a vertical denim operation with 3.5 million yards of fabric a month. Garco 10 in Hanoi makes shirts, suits and uniforms. In the center, Yoke Apparel Manufacturing sews in Da Nang as a Singapore registered social enterprise.
Vietnam merged many provinces in mid 2025, so the same plant can appear under an old and a new address. That is normal; a factory that gives no province at all is not.
Some Vietnam factory lists are written in China
Before you shortlist from a roundup, check who wrote it. Pages ranking for Vietnam clothing searches in October 2026 include listicles from companies whose own contact pages give addresses in Guangzhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen, an exporter in Haryana, India with Vietnam keyword pages, and a group whose factories are in China and Cambodia. The top result on every Vietnam query we checked was a sourcing agent ranking itself first, and two "independent" directories are run by one of the factories they list.
Intermediaries can be useful. One US company we read offers 150 pieces per style and color with sampling in 7 to 12 business days, but names no factory address, takes payment into a Montana LLC, and still tells buyers that parcels under $800 enter duty free, a rule suspended for all countries since August 29, 2025. Ask any supplier for the plant address with ward, district and province, a Vietnamese business registration number, and whether you can visit. Real plants have all three. This is the same pattern as the US address that is not a US plant, which we see across categories.
Minimums per style, per color and per design
Vietnam is unusually open about minimums. Of the 13 plants we read, nine publish a number, and the unit changes from one to the next. Vietnam Clothing Manufacturing states it produces from 100 pieces per style. Yoke starts at 150 pieces per style and design on selected styles and warns that low runs limit you to fabric it can buy off the shelf. HEM Apparel starts custom work at 500 pieces per style and sells ready-to-ship blanks with no minimum. iGreen Tex states 500 to 1,000 pieces per style and color. Kowide states 1,000 pieces per style per color for outerwear. Thai Son states 1,000 pieces per color per style on its main site and 2,000 on a second site it owns, explaining that its knitting and dyeing mills impose their own minimums. Thygesen states 3,000 pieces per design with 1,000 per color, and 5,000 to 10,000 per style for underwear.
So a hoodie in three colors is 3,000 pieces at Thygesen, 1,500 to 3,000 at iGreen Tex, and 3,000 at Thai Son on its main site figure. Write your color count into the brief, because per color is where the number multiplies. Thai Son is also the only factory we found that publishes a small run price contrast, on its second site: a chiffon and jersey blouse at about $20 a piece for 100 pieces against $4.50 for 5,000. Ask every plant to quote at two quantities to see how much of the price is setup.
Lead times, and the date the clock starts
Vietnamese factories publish lead times, and the differences come almost entirely from what the clock counts from. iGreen Tex states 15 to 25 days of bulk production after final sample approval and deposit confirmation. HEM Apparel states 90 to 120 days after approvals, order confirmation and deposit, covering material readiness, production, quality control and packing. Thai Son states 75 to 100 days depending on quantity, design and requirements.
Thygesen shows why you have to ask. Its homepage states 30 to 45 days after all fabrics and trims have arrived; its FAQ states 10 to 12 weeks including fabric production. Both are true, because fabric is most of the wait. Yoke states 4 to 6 weeks for sampling and 10 to 12 weeks for production on its homepage, and 4 weeks in production in its FAQ. Add ocean freight to the US West Coast on top. For comparison, Mexican plants we read quote truck transit to the US of 2 to 5 days.
Samples are where the money starts. Thygesen charges a sampling fee in advance and refunds it once bulk is confirmed, typically in 7 to 10 days and 2 to 3 rounds. HEM starts sampling, 10 to 15 working days, only after payment. Dony states free samples. No factory we read publishes the sample fee amount.
What a Vietnam garment pays at the US border in 2026
Vietnam has no free trade agreement with the US, so Vietnamese apparel pays the general duty rate in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule: 16.5% for cotton knit t-shirts and cotton hoodies, 32% for man-made fiber t-shirts and hoodies, 28.2% for women's synthetic knit trousers such as leggings, 19.7% for cotton polos, 16.6% for cotton trousers including jeans, and 4.4% for qualifying down jackets.
On top of that, since July 24, 2026, USTR imposes a 12.5% Section 301 tariff on products of Vietnam, stacked on the regular duty. USTR set the rate at 12.5% for economies it found had not imposed a ban on forced labor imports, and 10% for those that have or have committed to one in a reciprocal trade agreement, which the US and Vietnam had not signed as of late September 2026. As a worked model with the rates stated: a cotton t-shirt pays 16.5% plus 12.5%, so 29% of its customs value, and polyester leggings pay 28.2% plus 12.5%, so 40.7%.
The rates you may have read about in 2025 are gone. The 20% reciprocal tariff on Vietnam was imposed under IEEPA, which the Supreme Court held on February 20, 2026 does not authorize tariffs, and CBP stopped collecting it on February 24, 2026. As we read the order ending those tariffs, the 40% rate for transshipped goods in the same order ended with it, but mislabeling Chinese goods as Vietnamese is still customs fraud with its own penalties. The $800 de minimis exemption remains suspended. We do not classify goods or give customs advice; confirm the HTS line and the rates for each style with a licensed customs broker.
Fabric origin decides your forced labor paperwork
The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act presumes that goods made wholly or in part in Xinjiang are barred from entering the US, and "in part" follows the input. A shirt cut and sewn in Vietnam from Chinese yarn that contains Xinjiang cotton is covered. DHS lists apparel and cotton as high priority enforcement sectors, and its 2025 strategy update notes that cotton garments from Vietnam produced with cotton from China were added to the Labor Department's list of goods made with forced or child labor.
So ask where the fiber, yarn and fabric come from for each style, in writing. Thai Son states its yarns come from India, Korea, China, Indonesia and Thailand and are knitted and dyed in Vietnam. Saitex and TCE run their own denim mills in Vietnam, and Saitex states regenerative cotton is its leading fiber. A mill in Vietnam does not settle where the cotton was grown, which is the document CBP can ask you for. Put fabric origin into the brief and the agent records each factory's answer with its quote.
If duty or traceability rules out Vietnam for a style, compare it against clothing manufacturers in Mexico, where a garment made yarn forward under USMCA enters duty free, and our guide on domestic vs overseas manufacturing works through landed cost.
How to shortlist Vietnam clothing manufacturers
Start from the product and the quantity. A 300 piece capsule of printed tees, a 3,000 piece activewear program and a denim line go to different plants: small runs to factories like Vietnam Clothing Manufacturing, Yoke or HEM, mid-size knit programs to iGreen Tex or Thai Son, and large programs to Thygesen, Saitex or TCE. Then decide CMT or full package. Under CMT you buy and ship the fabric; under FOB or full package the plant sources it, which is what most Vietnam factories in our table offer.
Write one brief: garment, fabric content and weight, quantity per style and per color, size range, target landed cost, fabric origin requirement, and the certifications your retailer needs, such as WRAP, SA8000, amfori BSCI or OEKO-TEX. Ask for certificates by number; one factory we read lists BSCI, WRAP and OEKO-TEX as "proceeding", which means not yet held. Send the same request to three to six plants and compare minimum at your color count, price at two quantities, sample fee, lead time with its clock start, and fabric origin. If your quantity is under most minimums, see low MOQ manufacturers, and activewear manufacturers covers that category in depth. Suppliers runs this from a plain English brief and sends the request for quote to the shortlist, with RFQ outreach on every plan from $99 a month.

People also ask
The questions buyers actually search.
What is the minimum order for clothing manufacturers in Vietnam?
It depends on the plant and the unit. Of 13 Vietnam factories we read in October 2026, published minimums start at 100 pieces per style at Vietnam Clothing Manufacturing and 150 at Yoke, run 500 to 1,000 per style and color at iGreen Tex, and reach 3,000 per design with 1,000 per color at Thygesen.
Is it cheaper to manufacture clothing in Vietnam or China?
Factory prices are often close, and China is usually cheaper on fabric. The landed cost depends on duty: Vietnamese apparel pays the regular US rate plus a 12.5% Section 301 tariff since July 24, 2026, while Chinese apparel carries its own separate set of tariffs that has changed several times since 2025. Compare quotes on landed cost per piece, with current rates from a customs broker.
What is the tariff on clothing from Vietnam?
As of October 2026, the regular US duty for the garment, for example 16.5% on cotton t-shirts or 28.2% on synthetic leggings, plus a 12.5% Section 301 tariff on products of Vietnam in force since July 24, 2026. The 20% IEEPA tariff stopped on February 24, 2026. Confirm each style with a customs broker.
How long does it take to manufacture clothing in Vietnam?
Bulk production runs from 15 to 25 days after sample approval and deposit at iGreen Tex to 75 to 100 days at Thai Son and 90 to 120 days at HEM Apparel. Thygesen states 30 to 45 days once fabric arrives, or 10 to 12 weeks including fabric. Add sampling and ocean freight.
Where are most clothing factories in Vietnam?
Most export apparel plants are around Ho Chi Minh City and the former Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces in the south, and around Hanoi, Hung Yen, Phu Tho and Ninh Binh in the north. Da Nang has a smaller cluster in the center. Denim mills sit in Dong Nai and Ninh Binh.
How do I find a reliable clothing manufacturer in Vietnam?
Confirm the plant address with ward, district and province, a Vietnamese business registration number and that you can visit. Ask for certificates by number, since some sites list them as in progress. Then send one brief to several plants and compare minimum at your color count, sample fee and lead time with its clock start.
Does Vietnam make good quality clothing?
Yes. Vietnamese plants produce for major global brands, and several publish independent certifications such as WRAP, SA8000, amfori BSCI, OEKO-TEX and B Corp. Quality depends on the plant, so ask for the certificate itself, a pre-production sample and an inspection before shipment.
Do Vietnam clothing factories use Chinese fabric?
Many do. Thai Son, for example, states its yarns come from India, Korea, China, Indonesia and Thailand. That matters for the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, which can bar a Vietnam-sewn garment made with Xinjiang cotton. Ask each factory for fiber, yarn and fabric origin documents per style.
