The short answer: the best private label candle manufacturers for a new US brand are the ones that publish their terms, because the minimum depends on what you customize. For the smallest first order, Silver Dollar Candle Co in Tennessee and Candle Builders in New Hampshire sell a case of 12. For library scents under your own design, Unique Custom Candles in Los Angeles starts at 50 candles per scent and Spark Candles at 25 on its online line. For one all in price, Laguna Candles publishes $13.50 a candle at 150 down to $12.00 at 500, jar, label and box included. A custom fragrance moves every maker to roughly 377 to 500 candles per scent.
We built this list by reading 13 US candle makers' own websites, FAQs and product pages in October 2026, and ranking them on what they put in writing: minimum and its unit, price or fee, lead time and what starts it. The full comparison table, the vessel minimums and the federal safety rules are on our candle manufacturers page.

Silver Dollar Candle Co is the cheapest real test
Silver Dollar in Maryville, Tennessee states a minimum of a single case of 12 and publishes the case price for every vessel: $102 for 12 rocks glasses (7 oz), $108 for 12 clear 9 oz jars, $116.28 for 12 amber 9 oz jars and $145.80 for 12 champagne vessels at 14 oz. It builds custom recipes from coconut, soy and beeswax bases with cotton or wood wicks, stocks 40 plus fragrances and 10 plus jars, and prints labels in house with low or no minimums. Orders ship in 2 to 3 weeks, and it credits sample costs against the opening order.
That makes it the right first call when the goal is learning, not volume: put 12 candles in front of real customers for about $110 before you spend on a design system. Custom fragrance development is offered, but the fee is not published, so ask before you plan around it.
Candle Builders publishes every price and charges no fees
Candle Builders in Newfields, New Hampshire is pure white label: its own candles, your label, no Candle Builders branding anywhere. The recipe is fixed, Golden 464 soy at a 6% scent load, and so is the menu, 14 scents on the 9 oz size. In exchange you get the most transparent pricing in the category: $7.00 to $9.50 for a 9 oz candle depending on volume, $6.00 to $9.00 for 4 oz, $9.50 to $11.50 for 11 oz, and "no setup fee, no art fee, and no subscription." Wholesale orders ship in 7 to 10 business days and it also drop ships.
It is also the most explicit maker on safety. It states its formulations meet ASTM F2417 and it puts ASTM F2058 warning labels on the bottom of every jar, with wax type, net weight and burn time. One thing to clarify: the same page states a 12 candle minimum and "as few as 6 candles per order." There is no custom scent, so this is a launch tool, not a long term home for a signature line.
Unique Custom Candles shows the real price of a custom scent
Unique Custom Candles, poured in the South Bay of Los Angeles, publishes the number most makers leave out: the minimum after you go custom. From its library of 150 plus fragrance oils the minimum is 50 units per scent. With a custom fragrance it is 500 units per scent, ten times more, and the rule applies to duplications and reformulations too. The development fee is $500 per fragrance, half credited toward the first purchase order, with one revision included and more at $100 each, in about two weeks.
Lead time is 2 to 3 weeks once it has payment and all approved components, and it checks every formula against IFRA guidelines. For a founder who wants to launch on library scents and graduate to a signature scent, this is the clearest path, because both steps are priced in advance.
Spark Candles scales from 25 candles to retail volume
Spark Candles pours for US clients in Boca Raton, Florida and publishes a minimum that rises with the vessel: 25 candles of one fragrance on its online line, 100 per SKU on in-stock styles, 250 for custom color glass, 500 for specially sourced vessels, and it notes most retail partners buy 1,000 to 5,000 plus per SKU. Its online line shows real prices, for example 25 ten ounce candles in matte black glass with a full color label for $612.50, about $24.50 a candle.
Spark counts lead time from artwork approval, which is the honest way to state it: about 3 weeks under 500 candles, 6 weeks with custom glass or printed packaging, 8 weeks for 500 to 1,000 plus. Custom scents take 2 to 3 rounds over about four weeks; the fee is not published. Note that wholesale and custom orders are paid in full on placing the order.
Laguna Candles is the one with an all in price
If you need to know the number before you call anyone, Laguna Candles in Laguna Beach, California publishes it. Private label starts at 150 candles at $13.50 each, falling to $13.00 at 300, $12.50 at 400 and $12.00 at 500. That price includes an 11 oz clear glass jar, coconut soy wax, a library fragrance, a cotton wick, your label, a custom fitted tuck top box and its label, plus filling, curing and inspection. Freight is quoted separately, custom printed boxes need 250 per design, and a custom fragrance costs $2,000.
The trade off is that the ladder assumes one vessel. If your brand calls for a different jar, the price is no longer on the page. Lead time stated on the site is 21 to 30 days.
Prosperity Candle and Private Label Candles for custom work
Prosperity Candle in Western Massachusetts sets its opening order at 250 candles in up to 5 scents, 50 per scent, with coconut, soy, apricot and beeswax as its main waxes and 800 plus fragrances and essential oils to blend from. Lead time is about 3 weeks and reorders of the same design carry no extra fees. It publishes no prices.
Private Label Candles in Central Florida publishes the most complete fee list in the category: a $750 signature scent, label design fees from $25 to $150, setup fees of $100 to $150 for wax stamps, screen printing and metal labels, and custom physical samples at $45, or $145 if design work is still needed. It also states the custom fragrance minimum as a fixed quantity, a 25 lb drum of oil, which it converts to 470 candles of 9 oz or 377 of 12 oz. Read the whole site before you plan dates, though: the banner showed a 4 to 6 week lead time and the FAQ 6 to 8 weeks on the same day.
A Candle Co for itemized, predictable pricing
A Candle Co in South River, New Jersey sells in cases of 12, with a $500 floor per order and two orders per fragrance, four for custom blends. Prices are on the product pages, 12 nine ounce straight sided jars for $63, and so are the extras: a stronger scent load from $4 to $16 more per case, wood wicks $6, label design $250 per set and $0.35 to apply each of your own labels. Custom glass needs 1,000 units and boxes 500. Lead time is 5 to 7 weeks for custom items in its banner, and 2 to 5 or 4 to 6 weeks by season in its FAQ.
How to choose between them
Decide what you are customizing, then pick from the makers built for that step. Label only on someone else's candle: Silver Dollar or Candle Builders, from 12 candles. Your design on library scents: Unique Custom Candles, Spark or Laguna, from 25 to 150. Your own fragrance: budget $500 to $2,000 for development and about 377 to 500 candles per scent after it. Your own vessel: check the glass minimum first, because at A Candle Co it is 1,000 and at Spark it moves you to 250 or 500 per SKU. Our custom packaging manufacturers page covers jar, box and label suppliers if you need to source those separately.
Then send every finalist the same brief and two quantities, for example 150 and 500 per scent, and ask the questions their sites leave open: the unit of the minimum, what the unit price includes, who owns a custom scent, which ASTM edition they test to, deposit terms and what starts the lead time. Once the first candles sell, the next bottleneck is usually trust on the product page, and collecting short video and text reviews from your first buyers is the cheapest way to fix it before a wholesale pitch.
Shortlist the right candle maker in one brief
Describe the candle once, with wax, vessel, scents, quantity per scent and where it must be poured, and Suppliers finds candle makers that fit, verifies identity, cross-checks registry data, surfaces stated testing and certifications and flags risk with the evidence shown. It sends the same request for quote to each and lines up minimums, fees and lead times side by side, so you compare like for like. You review and decide. If you are still choosing between categories, the low MOQ manufacturers page covers small first runs well beyond candles, and the candle manufacturers guide has the full table of 12 makers.
